PIP reassessments delayed

The DWP has announced it will delay, until 28 October 2013, the roll out of face to face benefits assessments for people moving from DLA to Personal Independence Payments.

The MS Society is calling for an end to the 20 metre rule for the enhanced rate mobility component of the benefit.  Read more here.

The MS Society Short Breaks & Activities Fund

The MS Society’s Short Breaks and Activities (SBA) Fund provides financial support to people affected by MS. The fund can consider grants for people with MS and their carers to help them access a broad range of short breaks and activities.

FDA Approves Stem Cell Clinical Trial For Multiple Sclerosis

NEW YORK, Aug. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Tisch MS Research Center of New York announced today that it has received Investigational New Drug (IND) approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to commence a Phase 1 trial using autologous neural stem cells in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is a chronic human autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that leads to myelin damage and neurodegeneration and affects approximately 2.1 million people worldwide.  Read more here.
